Andrew Lauden has joined the highly acclaimed Bolete Restaurant, for the annual Chefs Cycle 2018. Head Chef of Bolete, Lee Chizmar heads up the “Wheels of Tyme” crew for the No Kid Hungry Campaign which will take Andrew and his teammates on an arduous bike ride to end Childhood Hunger. This will be Andrews first year making the journey and he is excited for the opportunity to take part in such a worthy and important cause. The three-day ride will take place on September 25th- September 27th and will encompass 300 miles of rough and challenging terrain through the hills of Charlottesville VA.
“While I initially agreed solely for the cycling challenge, I am more excited to be promoting No Kid Hungry and somewhat concerned about the difficulty of the ride! The route includes three one-hundred mile rides in three days with daily vertical climbing ranging from 5,000 ft to 7,800 ft!”-Andrew says.
The Chef Cycle is a fundraising endurance event that features award-winning chefs and members of the culinary community that is committed to fighting hunger outside of their kitchens. The annual event raises funds and awareness in support of No Kid Hungry.
No Kid Hungry, a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength, works to ensure that kids in America start the day with a nutritious breakfast and their families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. Childhood hunger is a major issue in the United States, with one in five kids not getting enough food they need every day, according to No Kid Hungry. No Kid Hungry mobilizes teachers, chefs and community leaders with a shared belief that no child should face hunger.
Andrew is a principal at ITR an independent, worldwide predictive maintenance (PdM) service and Technology Company. Andrew is asking that you consider making room in your philanthropy budget for 2018 to help less fortunate children avoid hunger and make a donation to No Kid Hungry in his name. Every contribution, no matter the amount will help those in need. Each rider has a personal goal $7500.00 to raise for the ride.
