Erica Elle Miller is the Author of “Gumbo, Ingredients of Being A Woman,” available on Amazon, Kindle, and Barnes and Noble’s online bookstores. Erica is set to release the second installment of her series, “Gumbo 2.0,” on February 29, 2024. Using actual journal entries from her diary, Erica has been taking notes for 6 years.
This book combines the essentials of what women go through but only scratches the surface. Chapter categories include Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, Insecurity, Looking for Love in the wrong places, Life-threatening diseases, Motherhood, Love, and more. These stories and poems also bring up racism, infidelities, and self-consciousness which highlight women and what they go through.
When asked about the book, Erica describes it as “Seafood Gumbo and all the ingredients it takes to make related to all the mothers, grandmothers, and aunts in the kitchen working hard, cooking. I thought about the laughs, smiles, and sometimes tears that happen in the kitchen. These mixtures of unpleasant, smelly, seafood creatures can come together and be tasteful to the tongue.”
Writing a book is one of the best ways to express situations that women find themselves in the midst of. How they adapt to survive and apply so many hats to their daily lives which men don’t understand. This book channels a positive gateway for women to know that they are not by themselves in their life experiences. Women are born warriors.
As a single mom, Erica shares the challenges of the norms of “motherhood” and combines all those scars into a delightful GUMBO taste of life.
