It has been quite a few years since I last visited Miami. Recently, I returned to the glamourous city, and fell in love once again. I redisovered a city that is full of art, music, fine dining…and fashion.
The Gary Nader Art Centre was the perfect venue for the closing night festivities, and of course, the wonderful people watching. Guests enjoyed the centre’s art collections, while indulging in crafted cocktails by Santa Gusano mezcal. Fashionistas, celebrities, VIPs, media and influencers mingled and networked until they were directed to the upper floor, where the magic happened…
Ángel Sánchez’s show was phenomenal, featuring stunning, feminine gowns created to celebrate the women who wear them.
The Venezuelan–born designer began his design career at a very young age in his mother’s dressmaking workshop. He founded his own design company, which rapidly expanded through Latin America and the United States. Since then, his success has been unstoppable.
Recognized as one of the world’s most outstanding designers, Sánchez is a favorite of Beyoncé, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Giselle Bundchen, Elizabeth Hurley and Thalía, among others. His style reflects his passion for highly structured, contemporary and feminine architectural forms.
Other designers featured throughout the week included Yas Gonzalez, Rene by RR, Lisu Vega, Agatha Luis De La Prada, and closing night’s Giannina Azar, as well as special guest Karl Kani, known as the “Godfather of Urban Streetwear.”
Miami truly has evolved into the main bridge between the US and Latin America, and thus, Miami Fashion Week extends beyond the runway, generating a mix of fashion, beauty, music, art, charity, the latest trends, gastronomy, luxury, and lifestyle. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
