The Weirdest Thing About This Bookstore Isn’t the Books

Introducing PromptBoox, an online bookstore that reads less like a shop and more like finding somebody else’s search history on a public computer. You know you should probably close the tab. Instead, you scroll down. Some example of books they sell:

Which Parts of Our Body Do We Really Need and Which Can We Donate or Throw Away. Anatomy as comedy, but weirdly informative? You’ll actually learn something about your gallbladder.

What to Do When Your Daughter Is Dating a Jerk. This is the one where the site stops joking. It’s framed as a survival guide for parents, and it reads like one. Somebody buys this as a gag and ends up actually reading it on the couch at midnight.

Who Are the People Who Pee in the Shower and Why. Because I needed to know who looked at this everyday and thought, “This deserves research.” Someone casually admits it. Someone else looks horrified. Someone begins defending themselves like a lawyer delivering a closing argument. Most people would laugh and move on. Someone thought, “Actually, why?” And followed it all the way down.

Create a Better Version of Your Partner Using an AI Agent skips communication and goes straight to the rebuild. Does your partner know they’re being quietly upgraded from the ground up? Improve too much, and you’ve created somebody who alphabetises the spice rack and suddenly starts wondering whether you could use an upgrade.

What to Do If a Bird Shits on You. Not “Recovering Your Dignity After a Bird Attack.” Just the blunt honesty of someone who has been personally targeted by a bird and wants answers. Why do people call it lucky? Was there one unfortunate person centuries ago, standing there covered in bird droppings, who decided the universe must be sending a positive message?

Sitting a few titles over is How to Groom Your Butt Crack. Full title. No euphemism, no tasteful cover pretending it’s about skincare. And it’s currently listed as a bestseller, meaning somewhere out there, people are choosing this over whatever’s sitting in their own reading pile right now.

Most of what’s on the site is cheap and fast, built for that specific feeling of needing to give someone something that says “I thought of you” without a twenty-minute explanation of why it’s funny. Works as a gag gift. Works as a real one. Works as something you buy someone at 1am because you found it first and couldn’t wait.

PromptBoox homepage — and the three that got me: Which Parts of Our Body Do We Really Need and Which Can We Donate or Throw Away, What to Do When Your Daughter Is Dating a Jerk, How to Do Good for Society When You Don’t Care at All
