Jane Recommends Book Picks for January 2023

It’s 2023 and this could be the year of the new “me”- and why not the new you? Heard that before? So have I. But now there are new tools that will really help provide motivation, brain- food, and a few psychological tools to ease you into getting whatever it is you desire.

  1. I am obsessed with Dr. Stuart A. Lichtman, PhD. His new book  Make Your Life A 10 is specific, to the point, and easy to follow. I started the book while traveling. Alone in a hotel room, I realized I had nothing to lose..so I started reading in one hour, I was hooked. I investigated him online, then followed one of his exercises. Seriously? Me? Yes, in an hour my “deeply painful” issue had shifted. It quickly became, more of an “Oh, now I get it!”. So pay attention to this one! A book for your life!
  2. I always wanted to meditate. But “breathing and mind wandering” is more my way of being. I hate to admit this, but a pop-up ad on IG led me to Mindvalley.com created by Vishen Lakhiani. Turns out, he’s “the guy!”–His new book, The 6 Phase Meditation Method is being read by everyone from CEOs, to musicians, artists, and others!…a great tool to manifest whatever you want instantly!
  3. Speak Kindly, You’re Listening by Dr. Jessica Metcalfe

Has “that” inner voice been telling you “I’m not good enough? Smart enough? Or just enough? This book will help you change that negative voice that’s holding you back! So let’s get the adult inside of you, back in charge!

  1. Butter Side Up by Jane Enright. When everything in your life collapses what do you? Jane’s inspirational saga will help you pick yourself up and start again!

My favorite books to read are psychological thrillers, historical fiction, and memoirs!

A few new books to dig into!

Reef Road by Deborah Goodrich Royce (Psychological Thriller) It’s time to rejoice when a Deborah Goodrich Royce novel is published!  During the height of Covid-19 in Palm Beach, Florida, a severed hand washes ashore. Two women’s lives intersect in a nail-biting murder mystery—a lonely writer obsessed with the unsolved murder of her mother’s best friend and a local woman whose husband has disappeared with their children.

Doomed Legacy by Matt Coyle

I’m a Matt Coyle fanatic. His Rick Cahill series (now his 9th book in the series) has kept me up until 2 am for nights on end. Set in San Diego, Rick Cahill, an ex-cop turned P.I., investigates the murder of a friend. Never one to follow the rules, Rick’s investigation puts his life and his own family in jeopardy. A fast-paced page-turner!
